Connect guide

How to connect CouriersNext to your store

You need your CouriersNext auth key: the API code that lets an app like ShipOps read your CouriersNext account. It comes from your CouriersNext portal at portal.couriersnext.com and is a different thing from your portal password. If you cannot find it, your CouriersNext account manager can share it.

What you need

one thing
Auth key From your CouriersNext portal (portal.couriersnext.com): your account's API auth key. It belongs to your CouriersNext account, so a key from ShipKartex or Run Courier will not work here even though their portals look alike. Looks like: a long code of letters and numbers with dashes, starting something like a321a976-

Don't have it yet?

If you cannot see an API auth key in your CouriersNext portal, ask your CouriersNext account manager for it. CouriersNext switches API access on per account.

A message you can copy: "Please enable API access on my CouriersNext account and send me my API auth key. I am connecting my store to ShipOps."

Connecting it in ShipOps

  1. Install ShipOps from the Shopify App Store, or open it if you already have it. On your first visit ShipOps asks you to connect a courier; later, it lives under Settings → Couriers & store.
  2. Choose CouriersNext and fill in Auth key.
  3. Press Connect CouriersNext. ShipOps checks the details with CouriersNext before it saves them, so a typo shows up straight away, not a day later. When it works you see Saved — credentials confirmed.
  4. Under Shipper profile, press Choose…, pick the one your parcels ship from, and press Save. ShipOps loads the list from your CouriersNext account. This is what bookings and labels are made under; you can skip it if you only want tracking.
  5. That's it. Your CouriersNext parcels load in the background, so there is nothing to wait for. They appear in your inbox as they arrive.

ShipOps stores your CouriersNext details encrypted and uses them only to read your own account and to do what you ask from the app: a booking, a label, a retry or return. Your rates and your contract with CouriersNext stay exactly as they are, and the COD cash still goes from CouriersNext straight to your bank.

A CouriersNext account can hold more than one shipper profile, each with its own sender name and pickup address. Choose the one your parcels leave from; that is what your ShipOps bookings and labels carry. Parcels you or a second sales channel booked straight in the portal are found too.

If CouriersNext won't connect

ShipOps says CouriersNext rejected this auth key

Copy the key again from portal.couriersnext.com and paste only the code, with no space before or after. Make sure it is the CouriersNext key, not your portal password or a key from another courier's portal.

It saved, but warns that API access looks switched off

CouriersNext knows the key but has API access turned off for your account. Ask your account manager to switch it on before you book from ShipOps.

It says my account has no shipper profile

Your CouriersNext account has no shipper profile of its own yet. Add one in the CouriersNext portal, or ask CouriersNext to, then reconnect so ShipOps can list it. Until then ShipOps can track but not book.

I have two pickup addresses

Each one is a shipper profile on your CouriersNext account. Pick the one most of your parcels leave from under Shipper profile. Tracking covers every parcel on the account, whichever profile booked it.
