COD payments

How CouriersNext pays your COD, and how to check it

CouriersNext's API tells ShipOps, per parcel, whether its COD has been Paid or is Pending; it does not list payouts or print a receipt. ShipOps marks what the courier attests and reads the payout statement you drop in for the amounts, so every delivered parcel is on a receipt, attested paid, or on your "courier owes you" list.

When CouriersNext pays

CouriersNext pays delivered COD on a payout statement from its finance side and flips the parcel's payment flag to Paid. No cycle is exposed through the API. After two or three statements ShipOps learns your rhythm and forecasts the next payout.

What the CouriersNext payout receipt contains

The payout statement CouriersNext issues lists one row per parcel with COD collected, charges, tax and net. ShipOps has read one and keeps its shape in mind; a new layout is profiled on first read, every row is checked (net equals the sum of its components), and the layout is remembered for your account.

The API's Paid flag is shown as "courier says paid" on a delivered parcel no statement line has confirmed, because the flag carries no amount and no date.

Where the money goes wrong

These are the discrepancies ShipOps finds on CouriersNext receipts, in the order they usually cost the most:

  • Delivered, Pending for weeks, on no statement.
  • Paid by the flag, absent from the statements you hold. Ask for the statement that covers it.
  • Short collected on a statement row against the order's COD.
  • A return priced as a delivery when a return-side "delivered to" phrase was read upstream as a delivery.

What ShipOps does with a CouriersNext payout

Automatic · statement upload

ShipOps asks CouriersNext per delivered parcel whether it was paid and marks the attestation. Drop the payout statement into the Money screen and the lines are checked, matched and filed as a receipt; uploading is never charged. The Money screen shows what reached the bank, what CouriersNext still owes, and what it says it paid that your statements do not yet show.

What ShipOps does not claim for CouriersNext.

CouriersNext's API carries a Paid or Pending flag per parcel and nothing else about money: no amount, no date, no receipt. ShipOps shows the flag as the courier's word and takes the amounts from your uploaded statement.

"Courier owes you" for CouriersNext is as current as the flag and your last upload; a payment made yesterday shows once the flag flips or the statement arrives.
