Connect guide

How to connect Run Courier to your store

You need two things from the Api Setting page of your Run Courier portal (portal.runcourier.com): the auth key, which lets ShipOps read your parcels, and the client code printed just above it, which Run Courier needs before ShipOps can book for you. Neither is your portal password.

What you need

2 things
Auth key From your Run Courier portal (portal.runcourier.com): your account's API auth key, on the Api Setting page. It is the code that lets an app like ShipOps read your Run Courier account, not the password you sign in with. Looks like: a long code of letters and numbers with dashes, starting something like 14dfe6b1-
Client code On the same Api Setting page, just above the auth key, labelled Client Code. ShipOps can track your parcels without it, but every booking needs it, so fill it in now. Looks like: a short number

Where to find it in Run Courier's portal

  1. Sign in to the Run Courier portal at portal.runcourier.com.
  2. Open the Api Setting page.
  3. Copy the Client Code, then the auth key below it. Paste each into its own box in ShipOps.

Don't have it yet?

If you cannot find the Api Setting page, or it shows no auth key, ask your Run Courier account manager for API access.

You can copy this: "Please enable API access on my Run Courier account and share my API auth key and client code. I am connecting my store to ShipOps."

Connecting it in ShipOps

  1. Install ShipOps from the Shopify App Store, or open it if you already have it. On your first visit ShipOps asks you to connect a courier; later, it lives under Settings → Couriers & store.
  2. Choose Run Courier and fill in Auth key and Client code.
  3. Press Connect Run Courier. ShipOps checks the details with Run Courier before it saves them, so a typo shows up straight away, not a day later. When it works you see Saved — credentials confirmed.
  4. Under Shipper profile, press Choose…, pick the one your parcels ship from, and press Save. ShipOps loads the list from your Run Courier account. This is what bookings and labels are made under; you can skip it if you only want tracking.
  5. That's it. Your Run Courier parcels load in the background, so there is nothing to wait for. They appear in your inbox as they arrive.

ShipOps stores your Run Courier details encrypted and uses them only to read your own account and to do what you ask from the app: a booking, a label, a retry or return. Your rates and your contract with Run Courier stay exactly as they are, and the COD cash still goes from Run Courier straight to your bank.

Run Courier hands many parcels to a partner courier, such as Trax, M&P or TCS. When you book from ShipOps, Auto lets Run Courier choose, or you can pick a partner for the account or for one order. Your account may not be open for every partner on the list; if Run Courier refuses one, ShipOps shows the refusal on that order.

If Run Courier won't connect

Booking says to add my Run Courier client code

Go to Settings → Couriers, open Run Courier, and fill in Client code from the portal's Api Setting page, just above the auth key. Nothing was booked, so retry those orders once it is saved.

ShipOps says Run Courier rejected this auth key

Copy the key again from the Api Setting page and paste only the code. A common mix-up is pasting the client code or your portal password into the auth key box: the auth key is the long one with dashes.

It connected, but says API access looks switched off

Run Courier accepted the key, but API access is off on your account. Ask Run Courier to enable it before you book from ShipOps.

It says my account has no shipper profile

The shipper profile is the sender name and pickup address on your bookings. Add one in the Run Courier portal, or ask Run Courier to, then reconnect so ShipOps can list it.

A Run Courier parcel shows another courier's updates

That is normal. Run Courier passed the parcel to a partner courier, and the partner's scans come through Run Courier's tracking. ShipOps still treats it as one Run Courier parcel.
