Next Step status

Next Step “HALT_DELIVERY”: what it means

Attempt failed

Next Step HALT_DELIVERY means the delivery stopped at the door: the rider reached the customer, or tried to, and came back with the parcel. Next Step still has it.

Next Step prints no reason with it, so you cannot tell from the status whether it was a refusal or nobody home. What comes next tells you what Next Step wants: ADVICE_REQUESTED asks for your answer, or RETURN_CONFIRM starts the return.

ShipOps counts it as a failed visit and puts the parcel in your Action Inbox. A parcel can halt more than once, going round halt, your answer, another try, and halt again before it comes back.

What to do now

Your move A failed visit. Reach the customer before the next try.
The customer Ask the customer what happened. With no reason from the courier, their answer is the only one you will get.
Retry or return Next Step takes a retry or return instruction only on a parcel it has opened a ticket for. ShipOps keeps an eye on those tickets and puts the buttons on exactly those parcels.

How ShipOps reads it

Attempt failed A delivery failed, the courier still has it. The parcel goes into the Action Inbox with the courier's reason in plain words. The useful move is to reach the customer before the next attempt; ShipOps puts the call and WhatsApp buttons on the row and counts the attempts made so far.

ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All Next Step statuses →
