Next Step “ASSIGNED_FOR_DELIVERY”: what it means
In transit
Next Step ASSIGNED_FOR_DELIVERY means the parcel has been given to a delivery rider at the hub in the customer's city, but the rider has not left yet. It is one step before OUT_FOR_DELIVERY.
The difference matters when a customer asks. Assigned means the rider's run is being put together; out for delivery means the rider is on the road.
On a parcel that already had a failed visit, this is the next try going out. Tell the customer it is coming.

How ShipOps reads it
In transit Moving inside the courier's network. Nothing for you to do, so ShipOps keeps it out of your Action Inbox. It does watch the clock: a parcel still in transit five days on, never attempted, goes on the Stuck list, where the lever is an escalation to the courier.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All Next Step statuses →
