Next Step “RETURN_TRANSFER”: what it means
Coming back Also printed as RETURN_ASSIGNED_FOR_TRANSIT
Next Step RETURN_TRANSFER means the returned parcel is travelling from the customer's city back toward yours. It is the mirror of LEFT_FOR_DESTINATION on the way out.
It is sometimes preceded by RETURN_ASSIGNED_FOR_TRANSIT, the return being put on a run. Both come between RETURN_CONFIRM and RETURN_ARRIVED_AT_ORIGIN.
Nothing to do except expect the parcel. The return charge is already being run up.

How ShipOps reads it
Coming back On its way back to you. The return is committed, so ShipOps stops suggesting retries and moves the parcel to the returns list. When it lands, checking it in records that you have the goods back, and the return charge is counted against the order.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All Next Step statuses →
