PostEx “Attempt Made”: what it means
0013 Attempt failed Also printed as Attempted
PostEx 0013 Attempt Made means the rider tried to deliver and could not. PostEx adds a reason after the colon, as in Attempt Made: CNA. The parcel is still with PostEx, and PostEx will try again on its own. It has not started a return.
The reasons PostEx uses: CNA customer not available, RFD refused to receive, ICA incomplete address, RAD restricted area, HCR hold on customer's request, OPN customer wants to open the parcel, PNA payment not available. Each needs a different fix: a call for CNA, a better address or landmark for ICA, a talk about the cash for PNA.
The common mistake is trying to send a retry here. PostEx does not accept one at this status. Your chance comes only if PostEx moves the parcel to 0008 Delivery Under Review, which often happens after a failed attempt. ShipOps shows 0013 as Attempt failed, puts it in your inbox and keeps the reason on the order.
What to do now
| Your move | The rider could not deliver; the reason code says why. PostEx will try again on its own and does not accept a retry or return instruction yet. Call or WhatsApp the customer now so the next try works. |
|---|---|
| The customer | The customer may say nobody called, or that they were out. Get a time and a number that answers, while PostEx is still trying on its own. |
| How long it usually lasts | If PostEx opens a review after the failed attempt, it is usually within the same day. |
| Retry or return | PostEx takes a retry or return instruction only while the parcel is in its review window. ShipOps raises the parcel when that window opens and files the instruction from the order. |
| Attempts | PostEx tries 3 times before it starts a return. |

How ShipOps reads it
Attempt failed A delivery failed, the courier still has it. The parcel goes into the Action Inbox with the courier's reason in plain words. The useful move is to reach the customer before the next attempt; ShipOps puts the call and WhatsApp buttons on the row and counts the attempts made so far.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All PostEx statuses →
