PostEx “Delivery Under Review”: what it means

0008 Needs your decision

PostEx 0008 Delivery Under Review means PostEx has stopped trying and is waiting for you to decide: deliver again, or send it back. It is the only PostEx status where you can give a retry or return instruction.

It comes after one or more 0013 Attempt Made lines. Once you answer, your answer appears next: Merchant Request For Re-Attempt or Merchant Request For Return, under the same code 0008. So the code can still read 0008 after the window has closed. Only the words Delivery Under Review mean you can still answer.

If you do not answer, PostEx often closes the window itself and moves the parcel to 0039 Waiting for Return. The PostEx order list calls this stage Under Verification, but uses the same words for 0040, where you can no longer answer. ShipOps shows the parcel as Review needed, alerts you when the window opens, and shows the retry and return buttons only while PostEx will accept them.

What to do now

Your move The one status where PostEx takes your answer. Choose retry or return from the order in ShipOps before the window closes; if you say nothing, the parcel usually starts coming back.
The customer Call the customer before you answer PostEx. A retry sent without a time, a better address or the cash ready usually fails for the same reason.
How long it usually lasts Often a day or two, but it can close within hours. Answer the same day.
Retry or return PostEx takes a retry or return instruction only while the parcel is in its review window. ShipOps raises the parcel when that window opens and files the instruction from the order.
Attempts PostEx tries 3 times before it starts a return.

How ShipOps reads it

Needs your decision The courier is waiting for your decision. This is the window where an instruction still changes the outcome. ShipOps raises the parcel to the top of the Action Inbox, and where the courier lets ShipOps send a retry or return, the buttons on the row file it with the courier directly.

ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All PostEx statuses →
