TCS “Held for Self Collection”: what it means
SC Needs your decision Also printed as HOLD FOR COLLECTION · Awaiting Consignee Collection
TCS SC Held for Self Collection means TCS is keeping the parcel at one of its offices for the customer to come and collect, instead of delivering it. HF HOLD FOR COLLECTION and Awaiting Consignee Collection mean the same.
It is common. Usually the customer asked to collect, or you requested a counter pickup. The arrangement is already made.
The risk is time. A parcel at a counter is not moving, and a customer who said they would collect sometimes does not. ShipOps does not message the customer about it automatically, since they already know where the parcel is. The parcel shows as Awaiting collection with the number of days it has waited, so you can see which ones are going stale and send a reminder.
What to do now
| Your move | Tell the customer which TCS office has it and remind them if days pass. If they will not collect, send a return. |
|---|---|
| The customer | The customer may ask where to collect it. Give them the tracking number to show at the counter and the TCS office named on the tracking update. |
| Retry or return | TCS takes a retry or return instruction only while the parcel is in its review window. ShipOps raises the parcel when that window opens and files the instruction from the order. |
| Attempts | TCS tries 3 times before it starts a return. |

How ShipOps reads it
Needs your decision The courier is waiting for your decision. This is the window where an instruction still changes the outcome. ShipOps raises the parcel to the top of the Action Inbox, and where the courier lets ShipOps send a retry or return, the buttons on the row file it with the courier directly.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All TCS statuses →
