TCS “Recipient Premises Closed”: what it means
RC Attempt failed Also printed as Receivers premises closed
TCS RC Recipient Premises Closed means the rider reached the address and found it shut: an office after hours, a shop on its day off, a locked gate. It is a failed attempt, and TCS will send the parcel out again on its own.
The fix is timing, not the address. Ask the customer when the place is open, or for an address where someone is in during the day. Like Consignee not home, TCS often prints it as plain text with no code.
Don't confuse it with Address Closed. The words are close, but they behave differently. With RC, TCS tries again by itself. With CA, TCS stops and waits for your instruction, so ShipOps puts CA in Needs attention.
What to do now
| Your move | The rider found the place shut. Ask the customer when someone will be there, or for an address that is open in the day. |
|---|---|
| Retry or return | TCS takes a retry or return instruction only while the parcel is in its review window. ShipOps raises the parcel when that window opens and files the instruction from the order. |
| Attempts | TCS tries 3 times before it starts a return. |

How ShipOps reads it
Attempt failed A delivery failed, the courier still has it. The parcel goes into the Action Inbox with the courier's reason in plain words. The useful move is to reach the customer before the next attempt; ShipOps puts the call and WhatsApp buttons on the row and counts the attempts made so far.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All TCS statuses →
