Trax “In Transit”: what it means
In transit Also printed as Shipment - In Transit
Trax "In Transit" means the parcel is moving between Trax facilities toward your customer's city. Trax shows it as Shipment - In Transit.
It is the parcel going out. Its look-alike, Return - In Transit, is the parcel coming back. The "Return -" in front is the whole difference.
ShipOps shows it as in transit. On Trax a return can be called off: if a parcel was set to return and then shows a fresh In Transit or delivery run, ShipOps believes the newer update, because Trax does sometimes send a returning parcel out again.

How ShipOps reads it
In transit Moving inside the courier's network. Nothing for you to do, so ShipOps keeps it out of your Action Inbox. It does watch the clock: a parcel still in transit five days on, never attempted, goes on the Stuck list, where the lever is an escalation to the courier.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All Trax statuses →
