PostEx “Merchant Request For Re-Attempt”: what it means
0013 Attempt failed Also printed as Merchant Request to Re-Attempt
PostEx 0013 Merchant Request For Re-Attempt is your own retry instruction showing up on the parcel. Someone on your side, in the PostEx portal or through ShipOps, asked PostEx to try again while the parcel was at 0008 Delivery Under Review. PostEx has recorded it, and the review window is now closed.
It has the same code as Attempt Made, but it is not a delivery try: no rider went anywhere. ShipOps does not count it as a failed attempt. You may also see it as Merchant Request to Re-Attempt.
Next you should see 0004 Enroute for Delivery, then the result. If the new try fails, the cycle can repeat: another Attempt Made, then perhaps a fresh 0008. ShipOps shows the parcel as Attempt failed until the rider takes it out again.
What to do now
| Your move | Your retry is filed and the review window is closed. Make sure the customer knows the parcel is coming out again, then watch for the next 0004. |
|---|---|
| The customer | Tell the customer the parcel is going out again and ask them to keep the phone on and the cash ready. |
| Retry or return | PostEx takes a retry or return instruction only while the parcel is in its review window. ShipOps raises the parcel when that window opens and files the instruction from the order. |
| Attempts | PostEx tries 3 times before it starts a return. |

How ShipOps reads it
Attempt failed A delivery failed, the courier still has it. The parcel goes into the Action Inbox with the courier's reason in plain words. The useful move is to reach the customer before the next attempt; ShipOps puts the call and WhatsApp buttons on the row and counts the attempts made so far.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All PostEx statuses →
