TCS “On Hold at TCS Facility”: what it means

OH Needs your decision Also printed as On Hold · Shipment on hold · Temporary On Hold at TCS Facility

TCS OH On Hold at TCS Facility means the parcel is sitting in a TCS building and TCS has stopped it there. No rider has been sent. In our experience an on-hold parcel has usually not been tried at the customer's door at all.

It shows up in two situations. After a refusal, it is the pause before the return, and Returned To TCS Origin comes next. With no failed visit before it, it is TCS's own hold, and only TCS can say why.

Two things mislead. TCS repeats the hold update every morning, so a parcel stuck for days can show an update from this morning; count from the day the hold started. And the customer cannot see or fix a hold, so asking them is wasted time. When a parcel sits with TCS for days with no attempt, ShipOps flags it as held too long so you can raise it with TCS.

What to do now

Your move Ask TCS why, not the customer. If a refusal came just before it, this is the pause before the return: send a retry now or let it go back.
Retry or return TCS takes a retry or return instruction only while the parcel is in its review window. ShipOps raises the parcel when that window opens and files the instruction from the order.
Attempts TCS tries 3 times before it starts a return.

How ShipOps reads it

Needs your decision The courier is waiting for your decision. This is the window where an instruction still changes the outcome. ShipOps raises the parcel to the top of the Action Inbox, and where the courier lets ShipOps send a retry or return, the buttons on the row file it with the courier directly.

ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All TCS statuses →
