M&P “In-transit”: what it means
4 In transit
On M&P, 4 In-transit means the parcel has left M&P's hub and is on its way to the customer's city. The note reads "Dispatched." Some parcels skip this status and go straight to 6 Out-for-Delivery; that is normal.
Before it comes 3 Arrived at OPS Facility; after it, 5 Reached at Destination. M&P prints no city on this status, so you cannot tell where on the road the parcel is. A quiet day or two here is normal. Much longer is worth asking M&P about.
This is the outward journey. A parcel coming back to you shows 11 Return – In Transit instead, so the two are easy to tell apart.

How ShipOps reads it
In transit Moving inside the courier's network. Nothing for you to do, so ShipOps keeps it out of your Action Inbox. It does watch the clock: a parcel still in transit five days on, never attempted, goes on the Stuck list, where the lever is an escalation to the courier.
ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All M&P statuses →
The same state on other couriers
