TCS “Out For Delivery”: what it means

OD In transit

TCS OD Out For Delivery means the parcel has left the TCS office in the customer's city with a rider and should reach the customer today. Riders call the customer from the road, and a customer who ignores unknown numbers is the most common reason this visit fails.

What comes next is either Delivered or a failed visit: Consignee Not Home, Receiver Refused To Accept Shipment, or an address or phone problem. Delivery usually follows within a few hours.

Watch for it on a return. TCS also prints Out For Delivery when the rider is bringing a returned parcel back to you, just before Returned To TCS Origin or Returned To Sender. That is the parcel coming home, not another try at the customer.

What to do now

Your move With the rider. A message to the customer helps the first attempt land.
The customer The customer may have missed a call from an unknown number. A message saying the TCS rider is on the way today, with the amount to keep ready, helps the visit land.

How ShipOps reads it

In transit Moving inside the courier's network. Nothing for you to do, so ShipOps keeps it out of your Action Inbox. It does watch the clock: a parcel still in transit five days on, never attempted, goes on the Stuck list, where the lever is an escalation to the courier.

ShipOps shows every courier's parcels in the same few plain states, so your team learns one set of words instead of one per courier. All TCS statuses →
