How Trax pays your COD, and how to check it
Trax pays COD in weekly batches, each with a payment id, by IBFT, on Mondays in the accounts ShipOps has read. A parcel usually appears on two payments: its freight is charged on the first payout after Trax receives it, and its COD is paid on the payout after it is delivered. ShipOps merges the two per parcel and checks the batch to the paisa.
When Trax pays
Every parcel Trax has paid answers the payments call with a payment id. The batches ShipOps has seen were weekly, on Mondays, paid by IBFT. A parcel's freight (Trax calls the row type "Arrival") is charged on the first payment after the parcel reaches Trax; its COD ("Delivered") is paid on the payment after delivery, usually the same batch, sometimes the next.
A return splits the same way: freight on arrival, and a return charge of ₨10 plus GST ("Returned") on the payment after it came back. Nothing collected, so the parcel nets negative, which is the whole cost of that RTO.
What the Trax payout receipt contains
Per payment, the invoice endpoint returns one block per row kind, so a parcel appears twice, and the freight block may come first. ShipOps merges the blocks per tracking number; the block carrying the status names the line.
The money closes exactly: the sum of amount, minus charges, minus GST, minus wht, minus cod_sst, equals the payment's total, to the paisa, on both payments checked. wht and cod_sst are each 2% of the COD and live only on the ledger row; the per-row invoice_amount field is zero throughout, which is why a reader built from the document alone would have rejected every real payment.
Trax's billing method on these accounts reads "Cash on Delivery Account", a third spelling beside the two the document names. Charges sit on the line, not on a separate invoice.
Where the money goes wrong
These are the discrepancies ShipOps finds on Trax receipts, in the order they usually cost the most:
- Delivered, no payment id. The trail says Delivered; Trax's payments call has no row for the parcel after the next Monday has passed. The parcel is unpaid.
- Freight charged, COD never follows. The arrival row landed weeks ago; the parcel was delivered; no later payment carries its COD row.
- A return charged twice. The ₨10 plus GST return charge on two batches for the same parcel.
- Tax at the wrong rate. wht or cod_sst not equal to 2% of the COD on the row.
- Short COD. The delivered row's amount below the order's COD.
What ShipOps does with a Trax payout
AutomaticShipOps asks Trax per parcel whether it has been paid, and when a payment id appears, fetches that payment and files one receipt per batch, with the printed total as the cash-in-bank figure and the merged per-parcel lines as the detail. Rows are converted to paisa at the edge.
The Money screen shows what reached the bank, what Trax still owes (delivered parcels with no payment id), and what is at risk. Withholding and sales tax are itemised per parcel so your accountant can reclaim them. Returns carry their real negative net.
The Monday rhythm is what the accounts ShipOps has read showed; Trax has not published a schedule, so ShipOps forecasts from your own batches rather than promising a day.
Questions merchants ask about Trax payments
When does Trax pay COD?
Weekly, by IBFT, with a payment id per batch. The accounts ShipOps has read were paid on Mondays. A parcel's COD lands on the first payment after its delivery.
Why is one parcel on two Trax payments?
Freight is charged on the first payment after Trax receives the parcel (an "Arrival" row); the COD is paid on the payment after delivery (a "Delivered" row). Often the same batch, sometimes the next. ShipOps merges them per parcel.
What are wht and cod_sst on a Trax payment?
Withholding tax and sales tax on COD, each 2% of the parcel's COD, deducted on the ledger row and deposited on your behalf. Reclaimable; itemised in ShipOps.
How much does a Trax return cost?
The freight already charged on arrival, plus a return charge of ₨10 plus GST on the payment after it comes back, with nothing collected. ShipOps prices every return from its own rows.
How do I check a Trax payment?
Sum amount minus charges, GST, wht and cod_sst across the payment's rows; it should equal the total to the paisa. Then match every row's tracking number to a delivered order and compare COD. ShipOps does both on every payment it reads.
