DEX In testing
DEX is Daraz's own courier, open to sellers off the marketplace. ShipOps books and labels DEX parcels through its registered Daraz Open Platform app, bound to your Seller ID and warehouse; live tracking and retry or return switch on once Daraz grants ShipOps the package history route. COD arrives on a DEX statement you drop in. In testing.
DEX is different from every other courier here in one way: the API secret is ShipOps's, not yours. Every call is signed by ShipOps's Daraz Open Platform app, and a merchant is a Seller ID plus the warehouse DEX links to it. That is why the connection is set up with you by the ShipOps team rather than by pasting a key, and why DEX is one shop per Seller ID.
The second difference is what Daraz has granted so far. Booking, labels and cancellation work. The package history route, which is what live tracking and retry or return instructions need, is not yet open to ShipOps; until it is, DEX parcels are tracked on DEX's side and ShipOps shows that plainly rather than pretending. This page is written from Daraz's Open Platform documents and from DEX's own merchant-facing facts; it will grow as the history route opens.
DEX's status vocabulary is machine codes, domestic_1st_attempt_failed, domestic_delivery_failed, package_lost, with a reason code on the failures that is finer than most couriers': short of cash, rescheduled, wrong package, not reachable. The table below is what ShipOps already knows to do with each.
What ShipOps does with DEX
| Live tracking | Switching on once DEX opens its tracking API to ShipOps. Until then parcels are booked and labelled from ShipOps and tracked on DEX's side. |
|---|---|
| Retry / return instruction | Switching on with tracking. |
| Booking and labels | Yes. Book from the order, print the label, cancel a booking. Services: Standard. Label layouts: DEX label (4×6). |
| COD payouts | You upload the statement. Drop in the payout statement DEX sends you and ShipOps reads it. How DEX pays COD, in detail → |
| What you type to connect | DEX links your account to ShipOps; the ShipOps team then completes the connection with you. |
| Recognised as | dex · daraz express · daraz logistics · dex courier · dex logistics Also by tracking link: dex.com.pk |
| Delivery attempts | DEX tries 3 times before it starts a return. ShipOps counts the attempts on the trail and shows how many are left. |
Connecting DEX
DEX links your Seller ID and warehouse to ShipOps on its side; the ShipOps team then completes the connection with you (Seller ID, warehouse code, pickup name, phone, address and city). One shop per Seller ID. Nothing to paste, nothing stored that is yours except the identifiers.
DEX declares tracking as pending in ShipOps, so DEX parcels are not imported from your store's fulfilments and are not on the awaiting-pickup watchlist. The parcels you book from ShipOps are known from the booking, with DEX's own package code remembered so a later instruction can key on it.
Up to three delivery attempts, then return to seller, and the shipper address is fixed once booked. There is no pickup charge on the merchant-side facts DEX publishes.
What DEX's statuses mean
12 phrases, read the way the app reads them| What DEX prints | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| package_created · Ready for pick-up · Allocating a driver · Driver assigned · Planned for pickup | Booked | Booked, awaiting collection. |
| Order collected · Arrived at logistics facility · Departed logistics hub · Linehaul packed | In transit | Inside DEX's network. |
| Out for delivery · Out for delivery (re-attempt) · Out for delivery to collection point · At collection point | In transit | With the rider, or waiting at a collection point for the customer. |
| Delivery attempt failed · Re-attempt failed — {reason} | Attempt failed | A failed visit with DEX's reason: not reachable, not at location, short of cash, rescheduled, wrong package… Reach the customer before the next of the three attempts. |
| Allocating new delivery driver | In transit | DEX's own review, not yours. Nothing to do. |
| On hold · Intercepted | Needs your decision | DEX is holding the parcel. Needs a person. |
| Lost by delivery partner · Damaged · Scrapped | Needs your decision | A claim. Talk to DEX seller support with the package code. |
| Delivery failed, returning to seller · Not collected from collection point · Return at transit hub · Returned to DEX warehouse | Coming back | Coming back after the attempts ran out or the customer did not collect. |
| Return hand-back failed, rescheduling | Coming back | DEX could not hand the return to you. Make sure the warehouse is staffed. |
| Returned to seller | Returned to you | Back with you. Check it in. |
| Delivered · Delivered (collected) | Delivered | Delivered to the customer, or collected from the point. COD follows on DEX's payout. |
| Cancelled | Cancelled | Cancelled before pickup. |
Why a DEX delivery fails, as ShipOps names it
| Address problem | Invalid address · Outside DEX coverage |
|---|---|
| Customer refused | Refused by customer · Refused — wrong package |
| Lost or damaged | Refused — package damaged · Package lost or damaged |
| Phone problem | Customer not reachable |
| Customer not available | Customer not at location · Customer short of cash |
| Held | Rescheduled by customer · Held by DEX |
| Courier-side | Delayed by DEX |
| Other | Pickup issue at seller · Needs review |
These are the reasons DEX gives on a failed visit, normalised to one label each so your team sees "Customer not available", never the raw string. The family decides what the Action Inbox suggests: an address problem asks the customer for a landmark, a phone problem tries WhatsApp, a refusal asks whether to return.
Questions merchants ask about DEX
Why is DEX connected by the ShipOps team and not by me?
Because the API secret is ShipOps's own Daraz Open Platform app, and a merchant is a Seller ID plus the warehouse DEX links to it. DEX links your account on its side; ShipOps completes the connection with you. One shop per Seller ID.
Why does ShipOps say DEX tracking is switching on?
Daraz has granted ShipOps booking, labels and cancellation, not yet the package history route that live tracking and retry or return need. ShipOps says so rather than showing stale data. The page updates when the route opens.
Why is DEX marked In testing?
It was added on 1 October 2026 from Daraz's Open Platform documents and is the first courier whose secret is ShipOps's own. The tag tells you an error is possible and reportable.
Can I book DEX parcels and print labels from ShipOps?
Yes. DEX's label prints no item list, so ShipOps puts the order contents in the external order reference so the packer still sees them.
How many attempts does DEX make?
Up to three, then return to seller. The shipper address cannot be changed after booking.
